The junior placekicker had seven kickoffs for 340 yards and one touchback. He was 4-for-4 on PATs and also had a key 37-yard field goal in Neshaminy’s 37-31 win over defending New Jersey sectional champion Montclair High School.
Coach Steve Wilmot says: “It’s nice to have a kicker that when you’re inside the 25-yard line you know you’re going to come away with points. This is his third year kicking for us, and the best part about him is he still has one more year left. We’re excited for him, we’re excited for the year, and it gives us an option for points when we’re inside the 25-yard line, knowing we can count on him.”
National Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Mason Jones, QB
In the Redskins’ impressive 37-31 win over Montclair (N.J.), the senior quarterback accounted for 214 yards of total offense. Jones had 109 yards and two touchdowns in the air, and he also rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries.
Coach Steve Wilmot says: “Mason gave a really gutsy performance. I think that’s the best word I can use for him. He started off with an interception for a touchdown and then things progressively got better from there. He ran for over 100 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Denzel Hughes. I guess the best word I could use for his performance on Saturday was he just showed a lot of guts.”
