Defensive Player of the Week
Daulton Fox
Fox came up with a huge defensive effort in a ‘must-win’ situation for Neshaminy last week. The Redskins found themselves in a ‘win or go home’ contest against archrival Pennsbury – and an enormous defensive effort limited the explosive Falcon offense to just 14 points in a 16-14 victory. Fox recorded 10 tackles – eight solo tackles – and also broke up a pass to highlight the Skins’ defensive performance. The Neshaminy season will continue this week as the # 13 seeded Skins travel to # 2 seed Downingtown West.
Neshaminy head coach Steve Wilmot says: “Daulton and Coach (Neil) French put in countless hours looking at film. He makes the calls for us on defense, along with Zach Tredway, and we give him a lot of responsibility. He has been a starter for the last two years, and he continues to improve. Against Pennsbury he was very impressive with the way that he finished tackles. He is our leader on defense.”
Honorable Roll
Will Dogba #7
Kyle Smith #27
Dogba failed to score a touchdown, but the diminutive Skin running back registered 197 yards on 31 carries to help Neshaminy to a 16-14 win over Pennsbury. Smith helped anchor a stingy Skin defense with three tackles – two for losses – and two sacks.
Courier Times Athlete of the Week
Jacob Gordon
WHAT HE DID: Intercepted a pass deep in Neshaminy territory late in the fourth quarter to preserve his team's 16-14 victory over Pennsbury, clinching a District One Class AAAA playoff berth.
WHAT HE SAID: "We're going to be practicing late, watching film, and we'll be just as prepared as we were for Pennsbury," he said of the first-round game vs. Spring-Ford.
COLLEGE CHOICE: A junior, he has made no decision.
OFF THE FIELD: Focuses on school work, and he gets plenty of sleep.
PERSON HE WOULD MOST WANT TO MEET: Clemson football coach Dabo Sweeney. "My goal is to play there."
