LANGHORNE: Back home on Heartbreak Ridge for a District 1 semi-final game, tonight is also the last time the 2013 Redskins will see the grass in Langhorne. For no matter what happens this evening, from here on out its on the road the rest of the way. So before we get too deep into the festivities, a special thanks to all the Schmidtmen for the wonderful memories they've given us this season and especially the seniors (we'll miss you guys). And as to tonight's game, facing Abington for the second time this year, words like tough-out and heavyweight 12-rounder are written all over this one. No doubt, the 10-2 Ghosts are hot as a pistol and it's gonna take everything the Creek Kids have to throttle these guys. Course, the 11-1 Skins have plenty of the the right stuff too (and we hear they're ready to rock). So what say we get right to it.

The 'Skins took the opening kickoff and Devon Brown made the catch and return to the 31. Out of the Bone, D'Andre Pollard ripped off 15 for a first at the 46 and the next one too for 20 more. Blake 'Big Bull' Sullivan then contributed five with a nice run by Pollard cancelled by a 'Skins penalty. Jammed up at the spot, it went to a 4th and 9 at the 25. Going for it the Tyler Wombough pass was picked at the one-yard stripe where the Ghosts offense came on the field.

et up in the Shotgun, the first Abington try was an aerial that missed. A run made nothing as third-and-long rolled around with a Ghost delay of game making it longer before the pass attempt failed. Punting it away, Cole Creighton grabbed it at the 45 and returned it to the 28. Pollard got the first two calls and had Neshaminy at the 15 in a hurry. 'Big Bull' Sullivan put another five and Pollard then slipped through down to one-foot line. From there it was Denny 'Ten Lords a Leaping' Lord showing his patented sky over the pile for the touchdown. Dylan McDonald was then down the fairway to give Langhorne the lead, 7-0.

On the McDonald kickoff the Abington returner hit the 33 when the ball slipped loose where it was fallen on by a Redskin at the 37. Wombough then came in and called Pollard's number as he took it to the house for the score. McDonald was right on and it went to 14-0 for the home boys.

The short McDonald kickoff was then brought back out to the 34 by Abington. Set in trips, a Redskin penalty quickly made it first-and-five at the 39. From there a Ghost back busted loose to Neshaminy's 30. A run, missed pass and bobbled pass followed and on fourth-and-five at the 25 an aerial try missed to put the ball back to the Redskins.

Wombough and company then rolled out Trokon Buesmaill who pocketed five yards before a missed pass pushed it to a third-down. The Pollard effort was short and Chris Watson came out for the punt. A nice return had it at Neshaminy's 30; however, an illegal block took it back to Abingtons 40. A loose ball then moved it back to the 30 before it was brought back to the 44 as the first-quarter ended.

Following the flip-flop, Luke Carrezola snuffed the Ghost effort and forced a punt. The boot was grabbed deep as Creighton was bottled up at the 11. Two quick pops by Pollard then moved the 'Skins to the 30 for a first. Wombough then nailed Creighton on a screen to take it to the visitor's 43. Beginning to punch out the yards, Pollard earned a few before Lord dragged tacklers to the 25 for a first. He then smashed free to the five but the ball was brought back on an illegal block that put Neshaminy at the 35. A Wombough pass missed and Lord then took it to the ten but another home team penalty brought it back to the 35. A pass missed and on fourth-and-long another aerial hit the dirt but a roughing the passer call saved Langhorne with a first-and-ten at the 19.

In The Wildcat, Pollard took the first flip down to the two-yard stripe for goal-to-go. Lord gained nothing on the first try but on the second, he rolled across for the score. Mr. Automatic nailed the extra point and it went to 21-0 with 3:36 on the clock.

McDonald's kickoff was then delayed by a medical emergency. Following the official timeout, the boot was returned to the 30 as action got back underway. As Abington showed The Pistol a nine-yard gain was answered by Lord as he racked the Abington back for a two-yard loss. Creighton and Dorian Arthur kept an edge run short as fourth-and-three came up. Going for it, the Abington back dropped the rock as Creighton picked up a bouncer and raced 40 yards for the score. McDonald iced the cake as it went to 28-0 for the Moleskinners with under two minutes showing.

McDonald's short-squibber kickoff was then returned to the 42 where Abington set up in trips with the first aerial batted down. The next pass was picked and returned long by Denzel Hughes but a questionable pass interference brought it back to Neshaminy's 43. Running the No-Huddle, two quick passes missed and a short run brought up fourth-and-seven at the 40 with the Ghost QB sacked at his 45. Then back on offense with one-minute showing, the 'Skins went to Pollard who earned 15 down to the 40. Big Bull made two before Wombough found Hamiid Pack at the 30 as the clock burned out to send the teams to the locker rooms for the break.

After the rest period, Sullivan handled the kickoff and the boomer was mishandled as the Abington returner was wrapped up at the 11. Three quick Ghost efforts had it to the 33 but that's where the drive stalled and it went to a fourth-down. Punting it away, Creighton was stopped at Neshaminy's 35. As The Tribe stayed in The Wildcat, Pollard was spinning for a first when the ball slipped out with Abington falling on it at the 39. And capitalizing on the break, Abington popped it loose as the runner went the distance for the score. The extra point was good and four-minutes into the third it went to 28-7.

After the onsides went out at the Abington 48, Pollard took the first handoff to the 43 before a loss of a few. Another effort came up sloppy and Neshaminy was forced to punt as Watson's kick was fair caught at the 20. Going to the trips/Shotgun the second Abington passing effort was picked by Creighton at the 40. A few efforts by Pollard had it at the 28 for a first with 'Big Bull' Sullivan then looking like a battering ram as he took out tacklers and made it to the 13. From there Pollard handled a counter and made the endzone. McDonald made it 35-7 with his PAT.

Sullivan then kicked it high with the Ghost returner dropped hard at the 25. Still showing they were in the game, the Abington back immediately popped it out to mid-field with another run getting it to the 25. Getting tight at that spot, the visitors went to fourth-and-a-mile as the clock sent the teams into the final period. Following the walk, the fourth-quarter started up and the pass missed by a bunch as the ball went back to the Redskins.

In the I, Pollard took the first assignment for a quick seven yards with Big Bull then hitting the 50 for a first. But with the Ghosts stiffening, it was soon third-and-five before the Wombough pass skidded low. Watson's punt was perfect and the Abington runner was forced out at the 20 with nine minutes on the clock. Abington couldn't move but earned a first on a pass interference call as the ball was moved to the 40. Four efforts went nowhere and the Redskins took over at that spot with five minutes remaining.

As the subs came out on the field, Mason Jones gave the rock to Will Dogba on four straight. He just missed the first down marker as the ball then went back to the visitors. With clean Neshaminy uniforms seen all over the field, Abington popped another long one to make it 35-14. The following Abington kickoff went deep as the 'Skin return man sat on it at the 15. Jones then gave the first try to Cale Kitchenman who made the 19. He then earned a first on a naked boot which was followed by two knees as the gun sounded ballgame. And that means just one thing:

Game to 'Skins!

First, a big thanks to the Ghosts for bringing it to Harry's House. Great effort, Abington.

Next, and as to the 'Skins -- boy, just keep on trucking! Nice work by the Creek Kids, for sure. Coming out strong from the opening gun it was a terrific all-around effort by the Schmidtmen as they controlled the tempo through the 48-minutes. And pushing their overall record to 12-1, with the win tonight the Redskins move on to the District One Championship game against a team they know well: The North Penn Knights. Although not set in stone, it seems that it may be played at either Souderton or Council Rocks field so with the trip not long at all theres no excuse to miss this one. Plus as everyone knows, the boys do appreciate the support too so lets all get there early and bring the noisemakers so there's no mistake that the cheers are for the Skins.

Two more things: With the 35 points they scored tonight, the 2013 Redskins can now claim the all-time scoring record as their 468 total points thus far gives the boys two more than the 2004 club's 466. Congratulations (plus we don't mind seeing plenty more fellas)! And on something very important to us all, a thumbs up for Coach Ferrara as we hear he's doing just fine.

Cole Creighton

Creighton had a huge night for the Redskins’ defense in their win over Abington, contributing four total tackles, which included one tackle for a loss. He also had an interception and returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach Neil French says: “On a night when he and Denny Lord broke Kevin Kelly’s record for career games played, Cole played his best game at Heartbreak Ridge. In an era when so many athletes specialize in one sport, what Cole has done this season is truly remarkable. Already signed at Stony Brook for baseball, Cole unselfishly accepted a position change about two weeks before camp started and has relentlessly worked for the past 17 weeks to improve his game at linebacker.”

WHAT HE DID: Rushed 29 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns to lead Neshaminy past Abington 35-14 in the District One Class AAAA semifinals, earning the Redskins a date with North Penn.

COLLEGE CHOICE: A junior, he is undecided.

WHAT HE SAID: “We’re looking forward to this week of practice. We’re going to get going and have high-energy practices. We’ve worked too hard to get this far to lose.”

OFF THE FIELD: Is a sprinter on the indoor track and track and field teams, and concentrates on his academics. “School always comes first.”

PERSON HE WOULD MOST WANT TO MEET: Retired Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders. “He’s pretty much my idol.”
