Germantown: On a cool, fall evening - one that was just perfect for a game of football - the outcome of this contest really wasn't a surprise. For although the Bears of Germantown played hard until the final gun they were outmatched by a 'Skins club that won going away, 49-6. Displaying an offense that was running on all eight cylinders, Langhorne pushed five scores across on the ground while going up top for the other two. And insuring that scrapbooks throughout the school district would be graced with clippings, 5 different Moleskinners were involved in the scoring.

The air attack featured Ian Capanna as he snagged two Justin Kinney spirals for scores. Plus both catches were syrupy sweet as Capanna showed his stuff by stretching for receptions that were just inches from being incomplete. Meanwhile, and not to be outdone, the ground gang of Jason Ulmer and Joe Stemme, with help from Quilan Arnold, earned their tickets to the prom, and TDs for the box score, the old fashioned way: Redskins power running!

Defense? Yes, we have that too. In fact, the 6 points scored by the Bears was the result of some nifty running by a deep man on one of the eight kickoffs that Germantown fielded. So don't blame the D as they held the home team offense in check for the full four quarters.

So all in all, it was a good night for Neshaminy as they pocketed another W. Plus not only did the first team work out the last of their kinks but the understudies flexed their muscles too as the lead allowed Coach Schmidt to rest his starters. And now at 3-0, the team can focus on the meat of their season as Suburban One League conference play kicks off next week as the blue and red tangle with a strong Abington Ghosts group.

See you at the game.
