Game 08

Bensalem: Hitting the road for the last time during the 2014 regular season, the ‘Skins took a short trip to nearby Bensalem. First playing the Owls in 1930, Bensalem is one of the oldest rivalry schools on the Blue and Red’s schedule. And although the Owls are having a tough go of it this year, they always bring their A-game. As for Neshaminy, at 3-4 so far this transition year, each week it’s expected they’ll continue to improve and tonight is certainly no different. So with no need to explain this one any further, let’s turn our attention to the field.

With Neshaminy getting the control of the game early on, it was D’Andre Pollard breaking the ice with another of his patented runs in the first quarter of play. But with the extra point try not going quite as expected the score stayed at 6-0 following the Pollard TD. And remaining in the driver’s seat after regaining control of the pigskin, it wasn’t too much longer before Mason Jones continued to find the endzone through the air when he nailed Denzel Hughes for 6. Dylan McDonald’s kick was then right on as the scoreboard rolled to 13-0. That ended the scoring in the first-quarter as the teams flipped sides not much later.

The second-quarter then looked like a mirror image of the first as Neshaminy dominated behind ‘Hollywood’ Magdelinskas’ burst for a ground score followed by another Pollard special-delivery. With both McDonald kicks true, and the action non-stop, the first-half ended with the score 27-0 in the Redskins’ favor.

Getting the first shot at the ball in the second-half, if you turned away for even a moment you would have missed Pollard’s long-distance run for his third score of the game. A two point try was then good and with what seemed like no time off the clock the Frederickmen were up 35-0 with a ‘running clock’ in force.

From that point on a host of new faces graced the field for both squads as the clock looked like a stopwatch. And in fact, it wasn’t long before the last seconds expired in the contest and the final gun sounded which means just one thing:

Game to ‘Skins!

We first thank our good friends at Bensalem for leaving it all on the field tonight. Playing the Owls each season has long been part of Neshaminy and let’s hope it continues. And for the ‘Skins, with their record now at 4-4 we’re looking forward to a solid ending to Coach Frederick’s first year at the helm. Plus with the next game back at Harry’s House, and featuring long-time foe North Penn, it couldn’t be more exciting as anytime the ‘Skins and the Knights mix it up it’s a donnybrook. So get on out early to The Ridge as it will be a packed house.

See you at the Game!
