Fairless Hills: We are back for our favorite game of the year – the last game of the regular season, our annual Pennsbury rivalry game. It is a must-win game for both teams to advance into the playoffs as the 16th seed. Head Coach Galen Snyder and his Falcons are at 4-5, matching the ‘Skins at 4-5.
Pennsbury won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half. Neshaminy received, and rapidly moved the ball down the field with some Carter Clee and Travis Lavelah punchy runs supported by tremendous catches by Connor Frederick. The ‘Skins were stopped at the 16 yard line and turned the ball over on downs.
In a back and forth, both teams immediately went 3 and out, and the Falcons have possession of the ball. Despite their ground and pound in action, the Falcons were forced to punt after a personal foul pushed them all the way back up the field.
Starting from the Pennsbury 41 yard line, the ‘Skins then get stuck midfield in a 4th and 1 and punt to Pennsbury when the clock runs out on the 1st quarter.
The 2nd quarter began with the Falcons on the ‘Skins’ 27, and in 3 plays, are at midfield. A series of runs brought the ball down to the 1, where QB Nate Beighley brought it into the end zone for 6 points and Angelo Pereira was good for the PAT. Score ‘Skins 0 – Falcons 7.
A combined unsportsmanlike and a personal foul penalty on the Falcons pushes the ‘Skins 30 yards forward to midfield. Then on the 43 yard line, Lavelah speeds down into the end zone and Kaden Nicastro’s kick was good. Score is ‘Skins 7 – Falcons 7.
The Falcons the pounded the ball down the field, and once at the ‘Skins 12 yard line, the Falcons’ Jordan Brensinger ran in for a touchdown. Perierra’s kick was good and the score is ‘Skins 7 – Falcons 14.
Things got chippy on Neshaminy’s kick return when Pennsbury’s Maurice Webb manhandled ‘Skins’ John Morris out of bounds. The bad news is that the ‘Skins reacted and got called for a personal foul.
However, it lit a fire under the Neshaminy players who reacted with some great plays; another tremendous Frederick catch, a solid Michael Sessano catch and a fantastic John Morris catch. Note that the Morris catch was a mirror image of the one 5 plays back, only this time Pennsbury’s Webb rightly got the personal foul call. Then a few seconds later another personal foul was called on Pennsbury when one of their players got chippy with a referee. So with 43 seconds left the ‘Skins moved up to the Falcons’ 4 yard line where QB Colin Baker threw a sweet pass to Frederick in the end zone. Nicastro’s kick was good and the score is ‘Skins 14 – Falcons 14, and we go to break.
The Falcons start off the 2nd half with possession of the ball and promptly turn the ball over on downs on their own 36 yard line giving the ‘Skins great field position. Carter Clee goes to work fighting for every yard and Colby Bracey makes a great catch to get us to the 7 yard line. Lavelah’s run then gets stopped at the 2 yard line but he comes right back to score and Nicastro ‘s kick is good. Score is now ‘Skins 21 – Falcons 14.
The Falcons then quickly went 3 and out. The ball was punted to Neshaminy who recovered it on their own 48, and Nicastro kicked a 42 yard field goal to bring the score to ‘Skins 24 – Falcons 14.
With 2:54 minutes left in the third, the Falcons’s Beighley returns a kick 99 yards for a TD and Perierra’s kick is good. Score is ‘Skins 24 – Falcons 21.
Neshaminy goes a quick 3 and out and punts to Pennsbury, who starts their drive on their own 41 and the clock runs out on the quarter.
The 4th quarter begins with the Falcons on the ‘Skins’ 24 yard line. Pennsbury quickly moved the ball down to the 2 yard line where Czerniak ran in for a TD. Perierra’s kick is good. Score is ‘Skins 24 – Falcons 28.
The ‘Skins then end up in a 4th and 6th and we turned the ball over on downs but the ‘Skins’ Bracey immediately recovered a fumble on our 36. However, Neshaminy could not capitalize on this and went 3 and out.
Pennsbury ate the clock up moving the ball on the ground, and with 2:44 left on the clock, the Skins got the ball back when Pennsbury turned the ball over on downs at the ‘Skins 11 yard line. We then see a series of super throws and catches from Neshaminy. Connections between Baker to Frederick, Morris and Cole Tarapchak were just amazing and had us on our feet. At the 2 yard line, Neshaminy tried several different approaches to score but were unsuccessful. The clock ran out with the score ‘Skins 24 – Falcons 28.
