Game 1 HeaderEmmaus: Tonight the ‘Skins traveled to the East Penn School District to play the Emmaus Hornets. Led by head coach Harold Fairclough (record 72-31), the Hornets are coming off a very successful 2024 season. Neshaminy won last year’s exciting game in overtime 20-17.

The Hornets started the action and QB Jerek Cooper and RB Jay Santos quickly moved down into Neshaminy territory on a nice combination of plays, but a toss into the end zone was intercepted by Nick Sassano. Unable to take advantage of the situation, Neshaminy quickly went 3 and out.

‘Skins kicker Tristan Rivera powered the ball all the way to the Hornets’ 30 yd. line, where they stayed and were forced to punt.

Nick Sassano returned the incoming punt to Emamaus’ 44 yard line. A tremendous 19 yard catch by Brock Williams got the team down to the Hornets’ 25. A much needed 10 yard catch by Carter Clee was called back on a holding call. What followed was a 26 yard pass Eckart to Nick Sassano for the ‘Skins first TD of the game. Kicker Stephen Buczzek nailed the uprights for the extra point. Score ‘Skins 7- Hornets 0.

Neshaminy’s special teams kept the Hornets deep in their own territory on the ensuing Buczzek kickoff to the 10 yard line. They were unable to get the down and QB Cooper lost the ball after a sack by Luke Howell and Corey Keenoy-Webb, resulting in a safety. Score ‘Skins 9 – Hornets 0.

Ball back to the ‘Skins and Lucas Stewart with a great return to their 45. But penalties forced Neshaminy into a 3rd and 31 situation.

Ball back to Emmaus, where they started on their 30. Keenoy-Webb ended the 1st quarter with a definitive sack of QB Cooper for a loss of 5, as the clock ran out with the score at ‘Skins 9 – Hornets 0.

The 2nd quarter began as Emmaus continued their series. Nick Sassano and Brock Williams almost intercepted the ball, but this put an end to the Hornets’ possession.

Starting on their own 25, the ‘Skins were soon faced with 3 and 20. Eckart completed a 38 yard pass to Mike Sassano followed by a 30 yard beautiful pass to Bobby Lagler in the end zone for a TD, but It was called back on a penalty. The ‘Skins go for it on 4th down but Eckart’s pass was incomplete.

Emmaus starts on their own 34 and several runs get them into ‘Skins territory.  They were soon faced with a 4th down situation and had to punt.

With the ‘Skins in control of the ball, Clee ends the 1st half with some solid runs.  After a scoreless 2nd quarter, both teams go into the locker room for the halftime break with the score at ‘Skins 9 – Hornets 0.

We started the 2nd half with Clee laying down some power runs and a perfect Eckart 35 yard pass to Lucas Stewart on the Hornets’ 2 yard line.  A quarterback sneak for 1 yard nets a TD and Buczzek’s kick is good. Score is ‘Skins 16 – Hornets 0.

Emamus gets control and 3 plays in, the pass is intercepted by Nick Sassano, his second of the night.

The ‘Skins take advantage and after eating up yards, Clee scores on an 18 yard catch after hurtling over a defensive Hornet. Buczzek’s kick is good. Score is ‘Skins 23 – Hornets 0.

The Hornets then get in a few nice Running and passing plays before the quarter ends.

Emmaus starts the 4th quarter on the ‘Skins’ 26. They advance to the 18 yard line but the ‘Skins defense forces them into a 4th and 13 situation and the ball is turned over to Neshaminy on downs. There were a lot of really good defensive plays in this series.

Neshaminy takes over and promptly gets to the Emmaus 11 yard line after a 60 yard pass to Bobby Lagler. From there it is only a few plays before Clee scores a TD on a 6 yard run. Buczzek’s is now 4 for 4 on extra points and the score is ‘Skins 30 – Hornets 0.

With 7:52 to go, Emmaus takes over on their own 24 yard line and put together a mixed bag drive, but they ended up turning the ball over on downs.
