Doylestown: Coach Felus and the crew traveled to Doylestown to meet Coach John Donnelly and his Central Bucks East Patriots for game 8 of the 2025 season. There was a nice chill in the air - perfect football weather. Both teams came into this game with a 5-2 record, and it was a well matched game.
Neshaminy started it up and scored on the second play of the game when Carter Clee ripped off a 74 yard TD run. Stephen Buczzek's kick was good and just like that the score was ‘Skins 7 – Patriots 0.
The Patriots then executed a run-heavy drive with Liam Hoey doing most of the work on the ground. Reaching the ‘Skins 7 yard line, Hoey ran it in for 6 points. Cole Wojnicki made the PAT and the score was ‘Skins 7 – Patriots 7.
The ‘Skins next possession culminated in a 15 yard Clee TD and Buczzek's kick was good. Score ‘Skins 14 – Patriots 7.
Patriots’ Alex White immediately returned the kick for 85 yards, Cole Wojnicki was good for the PAT and the score was evened up at ‘Skins 14 – Patriots 14.
CB East then recovered their offside kick and got to the ‘Skins 47 when the clock ran out on the 1st quarter.
Continuing their drive in the 2nd quarter, the Patriots managed to get to the ‘Skins 39 where the ‘Skins forced a turnover on downs. Nick Sassano, Luke Howell, Dan McGarrity and Carson Schneider tackles were key factors in the turnover.
Michael Eckart quickly moved the ‘Skins to the Patriots’ 26 and then threw a beautiful 19 yard pass to Brock Williams for a TD. Buczzek split the uprights and the score was ‘Skins 21 – Patriots 14.
The Patriots moved the ball down to their 49 yard line where they attempted to go for it on 4th and 2. The defense promptly shut them down and Neshaminy got the ball back midfield on the Patriots’ 49.
Then two plays in the ‘Skins’ possession, Eckart launched a rocket to Williams for a 54 yard TD, his second of the night, and Buczzek was good for the PAT. Score ‘Skins 28 – Patriots 14.
Two CB East personal fouls were forced on the ensuing kickoff and Damian Castro kicked the ball from the Patriots’ 30. The Pats marched down the field and Hoey pushed his way in for a 3 yard TD. A personal foul allowed CB East to re-attempt a 2 point conversion after an initial fail, and the 2nd attempt was successful. Score ‘Skins 28 - Patriots 22 as the teams go into halftime.
CB East received the ball to start the 2nd half. On their first play they fumbled the ball, Rocco Gregory recovered it and the ‘Skins took over on the Patriots’ 41. Seconds later Eckart shot out a bullet pass to Bobby Lagler downfield for 21 yards, followed by an unbelievable Nick Sassano TD catch. Buczzek added 1 and the score was ‘Skins 35 – Patriots 22.
The Patriots then went a quick three and out.
With the ‘Skin sin possession of the ball, Eckart and Clee runs and a 20 yard pass to Lagler was capped by a Nick Sassano TD catch, all the more impressive as that throw was made while Eckart was on the run. The two point conversion was no good and the score is ‘Skins 41 – Patriots 22.
CB East then put together a long drive 5 minute drive that ended with a 9 yard TD on a Sam Piszel catch. They tried for two, but Howell intercepted the throw. Score ‘Skins 41 – Patriots 28.
The Skins managed to get 4 plays in before the 3rd quarter ended.
Switching sides the ‘Skins quickly stalled and turned the ball over on downs at the Patriots’ 13 with 9:43 left on the clock.
The Patriots ate 7 minutes off the clock with a long drive ending in a 16 yard TD run by Owen Grotz. The Wojnicki kick was good, bringing the score to ’Skins 41 – Patriots 35.
But the ‘Skins could not move the ball and were forced to punt, their first of the entire game, turning the game into a real nail biter with 1:26 minutes left in the game.
The 'Skins' punt only netted 19 yards and left the Patriots on the ‘Skins 37 yard line. The Pats tried a long throw but it was intercepted by Tristan Rivera.
Neshaminy ran out the clock and took a knee to end this very, very exciting and highly competitive game.
Michael Eckart made the offensive plays look easy all night, throwing 4 TD passes – two to Nick Sassano and two to Brock Williams. He was firing on all cylinders. He is a general on the field and the Patriots struggled to defend his passing game. Shout out to Luke Howell and Dan Garrity who made some key tackles when most needed. Stephen Buczzek was steady as a rock and went 5 for 5 on PATs.
We will post some stats once they become available in Max Preps. As always - many thanks go out to Statistician Nick Rapciewicz for all the work he does in the background to make these stats available for the players, to Jesse Garber who is a legend in the 'Skins media world and to Nate Hall for his great sideline videos. These three do all their work in the background that add so much to the program.
Captains for tonight's game - #1 Michael Eckart, #9 Carson Schneider, #52 Owen Swartz and #54 Milo Makes.
We don’t need to tell everyone how hard the Patriots played tonight. They stayed in the game until the final 2 minutes of play. We wish them the best of luck the rest of the season.
You can re-watch the game here. FYI - the livestream of this game garnered over 2,000 views and counting.
We are headed to Warrington next week to play Central Bucks South and we hope to see as many ‘Skins fans as possible to cheer on the team!
Good night Mrs. B!
