LANGHORNE: It was a breezy night with a full moon at Harry’s House as we welcomed Head Coach Chad Brubaker and the Spring-Ford Rams coming in with a 6-4 record. The ‘Skins at 9-1 have been preparing all week and are focused and ready to play.
Spring-Ford struck first driving the ball 60 yards on 11 possessions right into ‘Skins territory ending with a 5 yard touchdown run by Justin DeFrancesco. Taylor Smith kicked it right down the middle and the score was 0-7 Rams.
Ball to ‘Skins and in the next 3 minutes the ‘Skins’ offense advanced with some hard runs by Joel Stills. Stills scored on a 21 yard scamper right into the end zone and Matt Leonhauser’s kick was good. Score was 7-7 at the end of the quarter.
The 2nd quarter was busy with the ‘Skins picking up 14 points; Oleh The Iceman Manzyk blasted his way through the Rams defensive line to score and Mike Crescenzo brought it home with a nice 11 yard run into the end zone. Leonhauser was now 3 for 3 on PATs. The Rams scored with less than a minute on the clock thanks to running yards gained by speedy Justin DeFrancesco. But their kick was no good and the teams went to the locker rooms with the score at 21-13 ‘Skins.
The “Skins started up the 3rd quarter and scored in minutes when Stills snuck past the Rams defenders and sped down the left side to score. Leonhauser’s kick was good and the score went to 28-13 ‘Skins. The Rams battled right back and scored with a touchdown by DeFrancesco and a 2 point conversion and the score was 28-21 ‘Skins.
Ryan O’Connor then brought the kick back 49 yards with an impressive run to the Rams’ 33 yard line. The very next play McAndrew threw 33 yards to Cory Joyce who scored easily and Leonhauser did it again. Score 35-21 ‘Skins. The third quarter ended with the ball quickly going back and forth – a fumble recovered by the ‘Skins and an interception by the Rams.
The only score of the 4th quarter came on a 28 yard touchdown run by Stills and Leonhauser kicked his 5th PAT of the night going 5 for 5. Score 42-21 ‘Skins as the clock wound down.
The Rams came to play tonight and they played hard. Props to Justin Defrancesco who showed his speed and determination on every play.
Shout out to defensive players Lou DiFrancesco, Nick Napadano, Nick Silenock, Luke Hitchen, Chris Majors and Cory Joyce who made some memorable plays tonight. Let’s not forget offensive linemen Nick LePergola, Jacob Kelly, Bobby Buchys, Giovanni Fiqueroa, Shane Secrest and Taylor Whitlock whose blocking allowed Joel Stills to accumulate 235 yards for the night.
Whatever you do don’t miss next week’s game against Pennsbury! Our team needs all their fans to cheer them on as we take on the Falcons for the second time this season.
Captains: #5 Oleh Manzyk, #10 Mike Garlick, #25 Cory Joyce and #74 Jacob Kelly
