2018 Game 6 Header

Langhorne: It’s Homecoming Night and the air is crisp and clear after several days of rain. Tonight we welcome Abington head coach Kevin Conlin and his Galloping Ghosts to The Ridge.

The ‘Skins won the coin toss and scored on the 4th play of the game from their 46 yard line on a pass from Brody McAndrew to Cory Joyce. Joyce shrugged off defenders in his way as he streaked into the end zone – score at ‘Skins 6 – Ghosts 0. Both teams then struggled to move the ball until the ‘Skins’ sophomore running back Chris James logged 56 yards in a series of plays to the 4 yard line. Oleh “The Iceman” punched it in for 6. The Brody bunch then scored 2 on a quick pass to Bobby Buchys in the end zone.

Logan Williamson was the highlight of the 2nd quarter with a pick-6 which he converted to a TD on a 96 yard run. Thomas Leonhauser’s kick was good for another 1 and score was ‘Skins 21 – Ghosts 0 and that is where it stayed as the teams went into the break.

As the 3rd quarter progressed the field conditions deteriorated. Slipping and sliding, both teams were plagued by fumbles and players were caked in mud. With 3 possessions each, neither team could move the ball and the quarter ended as it began with the ‘Skins 21 – Ghosts 0.

On the first play of the 4th quarter Cory Joyce intercepted the Ghosts’ ball and brought it back up the field to the 3 yard line where James zipped right into the end zone for another 6. With some fresh faces for both teams on the field, Abington recovered a ‘Skins fumble and put together a drive that culminated in an 8 yard pass from QB Chris Kretchman to Caleb Baker for 6 and and Antonio Ditri’s kick was sure for a final score of ‘Skins 27 – Ghosts 7.

Thanks to the Homecoming team and the band for putting on a great half time show. Congrats to the newly crowned King and Queen.

We also thank the Galloping Ghosts for coming to play and we wish them the best for the remaining season.

Captains: #5 Oleh Manzyk, #12 Brody McAndrew, #25 Cory Joyce and #88 Bobby Buchys.
