Abington: We are over at Schwartzman Stadium in Abington tonight for a match up against Head Coach Kevin Conlin and his Galloping Ghosts coming into the game with a 4-1 record.
‘Skins won the toss and scored fourteen plays and 7 minutes later with a perfect throw to Ian Sheehan. Jack Hughes’ kick was good and score was ‘Skins 7 – Ghosts 0. The Ghosts scored twice in the 1st quarter with a 32 TD pass to Ahmad Stone and a 36 yard run by Andrick Wesh. Both PATS were good and the quarter ended with Skins’ 7 – Ghosts 14.
The 2nd quarter was a struggle for both teams. Abington was forced to punt on their 2 possessions as the ‘Skins defense shut down their run game. Neshaminy had a turnover on downs, and on their second and last possession of the quarter tried to even the score but could not find the end zone. ‘Skins ended the first half with a 24 yard Field Goal attempt that went far left and score remained Skins’ 7 – Ghosts 14.
Coming back after the break Abington put together an 11 play drive that culminated in a nine yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper when Tamir Berthau ran in to score from the nine yard line.
Then with two minutes left in the quarter the action picked up as we saw three touchdowns scored in 24 seconds. Abington scored at 1:38 on a five yard toss to Caleb Baker in the red zone. The ‘Skins got the ball and in one play – an 87 yard run by Chris James – put up six points on the board with 1:24 left. However the PAT snap was bad and the delayed kick was blocked.
Then with 1:04 left in the third quarter Abington scored on a 70 yard TD throw to Baker. Neshaminy then went three and out and the score was ‘Skins 13 – Ghosts 35.
The Ghosts started the 4th quarter by scoring a Field Goal and the score was ‘Skins 13 – Ghosts 38 and despite an 11 play drive that got them down to the Ghosts’ 24 yard line, the “Skins were unable to score. The Ghosts spiked the ball and game over.
