The Rivalry

The annual Redskin - Falcon match up tops the list for favorite game of the season, every season. The rivalry was voted Best in PA and it is the most attended game of every season. All the faithful (from both sides) come out to root for their teams. The history goes way, way back to their first game in 1930 when Neshaminy shut out Fallsington 20-0. Since the 70s this has been scheduled as the last game of the regular season. Whoever wins has bragging rights for the rest of the school year.

There are two excellent articles written by on this rivalry in EasternPa Football. Don not miss this read! It is full of great

We have noticed that Pennsbury games on NeshaminyFootballArchive, our YT Channel, lead the pack in number of views and we are glad that the Pennsbury crew can enjoy them as much as we do. After speaking with many of the Redskin alumni, most of them will pick a Pennsbury game as the 'most remembered'.

I personally pick game 10 of  2017 season when the 'Skins pulled off a 1 point lead in the last remaining seconds of the game. It was standing room only and the noise in the stadium was deafening. Both sides were on their feet. A nail biter to the very last second. Coach Wilmot made use of the Philly Special and we even made all the local news coverage. What a game! In fact you can watch the entire game here and my only regret is that there is no audio to hear the din.

Here is end of the recap from that game:

With 7:11 left in the game the ‘Skins started a drive on the 40 yard line. Helped by catches from Garlick and Cannimore along with runs by McAndrew and Stills the ‘Skins reached the Falcons’ 9 yard line with two minutes left in the game. A sack by the Falcons’ defense pushed the ‘Skins back to the 17 yard line where under great pressure, McAndrew completed a 15 yard pass to Oleh The Iceman Manzyk who pushed his way dragging defenders to the 1 yard line. With :38 seconds left on the clock on a 4th down and two yards to go, the ‘Skins pulled out a masterful play call – ball snapped to The Iceman who flipped the ball to Joyce who in turn threw it right into McAndrew’s hands in the end zone. With the conference title and top seeding on the line, Leonhauser split the uprights and just like that the score was 21-20 ‘Skins. The Falcons did not get the miracle they needed as to come back as a Demarchis pass was intercepted by Corey Joyce who sealed the win.

CHALLENGER FOOTBALL

Despite this intense rivalry, these two teams get together on Sundays during the season and join hands for the Bucks County Challenger Program, a wonderful program run by the Wargos. This program is a blessing to our community and a way for our program to give back. My son said this this was one of his favorite parts of being part of the program. He loved it. Both Pennsbury and Neshaminy are heavily involved and share the field in this outreach program.

RECORDS

Among the many memorable Pennsbury regular season games, the 2016 match up contained a record breaker.  In that game Neshaminy shut out the Falcons 35-0. Pete Cordelli Jr. and his father, former Neshaminy Coach Pete Cordelli Sr., attended this special Neshaminy | Pennsbury match up.

Video Below: On the left is Game 10 vs Pennsbury. Mason Jones throws his 25th TD pass of the season to Zach Tredway, breaking Pete Cordelli's 1971 single season record of 24 TD Passes. And speaking of Pete, there he is throwing that 24th TD pass to Joe Sroba in the 1971 Game 11 vs Pennsbury.
