Langhorne: We are home again at The Ridge for Senior Night | Pink-Out Night as we welcome head coach Ed Cubbage and his Bensalem Owls. An opponent since 1930, the lifetime record versus Bensalem is 59-22-2. ‘Skins are coming in at 3-4 and Owls at 2-5.

‘Skins won the toss and scored first on an eight play, five minute drive when Greg Orleski blasted through the Owl defensive line for a three yard touchdown. Jack Hughes’ kick was good and score was ‘Skins 7 – Owls 0.

After a quick Bensalem three and out, ‘Skins offense took to the field and with an eight play drive scored again on a Brody McAndrew twenty one yard touchdown toss to Ian Sheehan. Hughes’ kick was blocked by Bensalem’s Jalen Smith. Bensalem ended the quarter with the ball on their own 24 yard line with the score ‘Skins 13 – Owls 0.

As the 2nd quarter began the Owls were forced to punt and managed to down the ball all the way back to the one yard line. Taking over from there Neshaminy drove thirty three yards but was forced to turn the ball over on downs on the Owls’ thirty three yard line.

Bensalem capitalized and four plays later scored on a Richard Bordone twenty eight yard touchdown pass to Justin Johnson. Kal Ivanov’s PAT was good for the point. However the “Skins came right back as McAndrew found Sheehan again on a beautiful forty one yard touchdown pass. Hughes’ kick was blocked again by Bensalem’s Smith. Even though Neshaminy’s Thomas Fitch recovered the subsequent fumbled punt on the ‘Skins’ twenty eight yard line, the ‘Skins were stopped right where they started and turned the ball over on downs.

Both teams went to the locker rooms with the half time score at ‘Skins 19 – Owls 7.

The 3rd quarter was jammed packed with action. The Owls came out fighting. They marched sixty six yards in only three plays to their own seven yard line but were stopped in their tracks when Dawson Obringer stripped the ball during a Bensalem hand off.

Running back Greg Orleski then took up the brunt of the ‘Skins next drive moving the team eighty seven yards in a series of eleven plays only to have Owls’ Henry Hill strip it right back. But pressure from Zach Magdelinskas and Nick Soska and the ‘Skins defense forced an Owls’ three and out.

Then with a minute and twenty on the clock McAndrew found Sheehan again for a nine yard touchdown pass. The two point conversion was successful as he threw to Gavin O’Connor in the end zone. Score ‘Skins 27 – Owls 7. On the ensuing kick Bensalem’s Justin Johnson took it to the house on a ninety five yard run but the snap for the PAT was botched. Score at the end of the 3rd quarter “Skins 27 – Owls 13.

Two minutes into the 4th quarter the McAndrew-Sheehan magic continued as Sheehan had a highlight worthy one hand touchdown catch and this time Hughes’ PAT was good. Owls turned the ball over on downs and while Neshaminy ate up the clock with a long fourteen play drive, they were stopped on their twenty five yard line and Bensalem took over.

Three plays later Mason Demi intercepted the Owls and McAndrew ran out the clock to end the game with a final score of ‘Skins 34 – Owls 13.

QB Brody McAndrew completed 18 passes for 229 yards and 4 touchdowns. Ian Sheehan had 174 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Chris James had 6 carries for 59 yards in the first quarter and Greg Orleski had 17 carries for 99 yards and 1 touchdown. Tedo Sakhokia registered a solo sack and assisted in another along with Kenny Monaco and Jake Ginsberg. Mason Demi had an interception and Thomas Fitch and Dawson Obringer each had a fumble recovery. ‘Skins Defense played well and contained the Owls running game and the offensive line opened a lot of holes for Chris James and Greg Orleski. Props to Stephen Jackson on his blocking.

Hats off to the Owls who played hard all four quarters. Shout out to Henry Hill, a former Redskin, who was all over the field on both offense and defense.

OFFENSE – Brody McAndrew & Ian Sheehan, Neshaminy – The seniors duo was all but unstoppable in Neshaminy’s 34-13 win over Bensalem. McAndrew completed 18-of-23 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns and now has thrown for 1,559 yards and 20 touchdowns. Sheehan, who had 13 receptions for 174 yards and four touchdowns, surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and has 1,093 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is averaging 20.2 yards a catch.

Coach Steve Wilmot says: “The combination of McAndrew to Sheehan saw another productive week last week against Bensalem. The two players continue to work well together and find the end zone consistently. They are fun to watch.”
