We do have some footage from the 1960s but it is very sparse. Please contact us if you have any film canisters and we will process them for you to a digital format. Note that all dates and times were taken from articles and while most of these were available there were a few games where we could not determine the field and time of game. If game was played on a Friday we used other Friday night game times.

1960

The 1960 season marks the first time that Neshaminy and Pennsbury played on Pennsbury’s new field at the High School. Harry Schuh and Jack Stricker were named to the All State Team and Neshaminy went 10-0-1 with the game played at Easton coming up a tie 13-13 before 12,000 fans. The team had two different uniforms (royal blue jersey for home games and powder blue jersey for away games) for each player and players had two different numbers depending on the uniform color. That is one way to confuse the opponent!

The 1966 season started with an all out media blitz on who would replace famed coach John Petercuskie. First named in January 1966 to replace Cuskie was James Garrett, former Susquehanna football coach but he resigned two months later to work as a scout for BLESTO. Those initials stand for Bears – Lions – Eagles – Steelers  whose teams had formed a scouting cooperative. News then spread that Lou Bonder, former Marple-Newtown football coach, was considered but he denied those rumors on April 23rd.  Then in May an article appeared in the Intelligencer mentioning Bob Kruis, with one of the best won coaching records in Lancaster County, was in talks with Neshaminy School District to replace Petercuskie. Finally on August 18th, Bristol County Courier reported that Tom McHugh, formerly from Plamyra NJ and Lower Moreland positions, had been named to the head coaching position.

Take a look at our Featured Game 9 of 1969 Season – Final score Neshaminy 45 – Wm Tennent 6. Neshaminy wearing dark jerseys. This footage is all from the same game even though it is dark at times. The kicker is Chris Bahr #11 who originally had #21 as his jersey but switched mid-season with Dave Sommers. There are some Neshaminy greats in this video. Our deepest gratitude goes out to Chuck Gearhart who supplied this full game – the oldest full game footage we have archived.
