1994 Coaching Staff
Coach Dick Bedesem was a running back at LaSalle High School (1947-1949) and at Villanova University (1950-1953). He began his coaching career at LaSalle High School from 1954 to 1956 and then went to Bishop Egan where he remained for 13 years, from 1957 to 1970. He coached for two years at Archbishop Wood from 1971 to 1972. He spent the next 10 years coaching at the college level; first at Temple University (1973-1974), Villanova University (1975-1981) and the university of Pittsburgh (1982). In 1984 Bedesem came to Neshaminy but left in 1987 to coach at Delaware Valley College. He returned to Neshaminy in 1992.
Dick and his wife Maryanne have 5 sons - Dick Jr., Dan, Greg, Tom and Vince along with 10 grandchildren.
Vince Bedesem
Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers: Coach Bedesem teaches at Holland Jr. High and is enrolled in a graduate program at Penn State. He played football at Council Rock from 19881-83, fullback, linebacker. He also wrestled. He played college football at Del Val from 1984-87 and also wrestled for them. After graduation he coached linebackers at Del Val from '88-'90 and at Council Rock from '91-'93.
Tom Magdelinskas
Offensive Line/Kickers: Coach Mags graduated from Neshaminy in 1982 and from Temple in 1986. Tom's teaching experience began at Bristol High School. He came to Neshaminy 6 years ago and is currently teaching here at the high school in the Business Education Department. Tom resides in Langhorne with his wife, Yvette, and a son, T.J.
Bill Ferrera
Offensive Backfield: Coach Ferrera played split end for the Redskins.He graduated from Neshaminy in 1978 and from Trenton State in 1985. He received his Master's from Trenton State in 1991. He has been teaching Health and Physical Education at Neshaminy for ten years. Bill and his wife Susan reside in Levittown and have a two year old son, Tyler, and two month old daughter, Courtney.
Don WIater
Special Teams: Coach Wiater, a graduate of Morrisville High School, received his B.A. in secondary education from the University of Mississippi. He spent 24 years with the New Jersey Dept. of Corrections. For 8 years, Don was a Head Coach with the Penndel Wildcats Athletic Association. Don came to Neshaminy High School last year and also works as the strength coach. He and his wife Karen have 2 boys - Brandon, 14, and Jason, 10.
Ed Hofman
Linebackers: Coach Hofman played football at Abington High School and at West Chester University. He began his coaching career at Abington (1975-77) and then went to Hatboro-Horsham, where he became Head Coach in 1988. In 1991, He joined Dick Bedesem's staff at Delaware Valley College and,in 1992, he came to Neshaminy High School. Ed teaches Driver Education and Physical Education at Hatboro-Horsham High School. He and his wife Sheila, Girls' Tennis Coach at Neshaminy, reside in Horsham.
Colin Trickel
Defensive Backs: Coach Trickel graduated from Neshaminy in 1984 and from West Chester University in 1989. He has been teaching special education at Neshaminy High for four years. Colin and his wife, Chrissy, have a six month old son, Colin Patrick.
Bernie Gavlick
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends: Coach Gavlick has his B.S. from Bloomsburg University and his M.A. from Kutztown University. The past two years he has coached at Carl Sandburg. He and his wife, Kathy, live in Langhorne and have a 14 year old son, Bern.
Dave Coll
Trainer: Dave Coll graduated from West Chester University. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Sports Medicine from Temple University. This is his sixth year at Neshaminy where he also teaches health and adaptive Physical Education. He is married to Allison and they have a daughter, Alexandra.
