2018 Coaching Staff
We want to acknowledge the Neshaminy Coaching staff, who with a combined 257 years, that’s right – 257 years, of coaching experience have done a great job developing players into honorable young men while teaching football at the highest level.
Head Coach Steve Wilmot
Head Coach:This is Coach Wilmot’s 24th year coaching with the Redskins. Coach grew up in Flourtown, PA and went to Springfield Montco HS. He played under Coaches Bob Malehorn & Coach Dave Puchulski. He then went on to play at Lock Haven Univ., where he was captain his senior year & played for 4 years under his Offensive Line Coach Mark Schmidt. Coach Wilmot has been teaching for 17 years at Neshaminy, 13 years at the former alternative school, & currently as a biology teacher at the high school. He is a certified strength and condition coach certified through the NSCA. He is married to Jennifer, a 5th grade teacher at Herbert Hoover Elementary School, & has a step-son Shane (18) & son Jason (11)
Jay Weidenbaugh
Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs: Coach Weidenbaugh graduated from Spring-Ford High School. He attended West Chester University and earned a B.S. degree in Physical Education. He also has a M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina. Coach Weidenbaugh has 36 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. His wife Tina is the seventh grade principal at the Springfield Flex school.
Neil French
Co-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers: Coach French is entering his 17th season as Co-Defensive Coordinator. Coach is a ’94 graduate of Notre Dame HS in Lawrenceville, NJ & earned a Bachelors in Secondary Educ from Villanova in 1998 & a Masters in Education Administration from Gwynedd Mercy. This will be Coach French’s 20th year as a Social Studies teacher at Maple Point Middle School. There, Coach also serves as the Student Council advisor, 7th Grade Boys Basketball Head Coach, 8th Grade Baseball Head Coach and is a member of the Student Assistance Team. Coach French served as Acting Assistant Principal at Poquessing Middle School in 2007. Coach resides in Langhorne with his wife Jennifer (Neshaminy 94) and daughters Julia (11) and Addison (9).
Ray Jones
Offensive Line: Coach Jones is entering his 20th year coaching at Neshaminy. Coach Jones attended Kutztown University. He has over 29 years of coaching experience. Coach Jones runs his own real estate business Ray Jones Realty @Re/Max Advantage and lives in Langhorne with his wife Kelly and son Mason. His older children Austin and Joscelyne both live in Langhorne.
David Ferrara
Outside Linebackers: David is a ’87 graduate of Neshaminy HS. He was a member of the football team for three years and earned the honors of making the Redskin Eleven in his senior year. After high school Coach Ferrara graduated from Bucks County Community College with a 3.9 GPA and a Associates degree in Educational Psychology. Coach then transferred to Trenton State College (known as The College of NJ today) to major in History Education. He graduated in 1993 with a 3.489 GPA. Coach also holds a Masters degree in Education from Arcadia University. Coach Ferrara teaches 9th Grade American History at Neshaminy HS. He has been a member of the high school coaching staff since 2005.
Kevin Kelly
Quarterbacks/Running Backs: This is Coach Kelly’s 4th year at Neshaminy. Coach and his wife Dianne reside in Levittown and are the proud parents of a Neshaminy High School student, Michael Kelly. Coach has 24 years experience coaching at the high school level and served as a head coach at Conwell-Egan and Bensalem. Coach is honored to be a part of a program with such a proud history and a tradition of excellence. Coach Kelly has been employed by Legacy Treatment Services for nearly 23 years and currently serves as the VP of Adolescent Residential Services.
Charlie Marterella
Wide Receivers: Coach Marterella is entering his 4th year on the Neshaminy Football coaching staff. He is a 2011 graduate of Neshaminy High School and a former player on both the varsity basketball and football teams. Coach Marterella was the starting quarterback on the 2010 football team. With a record of 12-2, the team won the SOL National and was the District 1 runner up. Coach Marterella graduated from Delaware Valley University in 2015 with a BS degree in Secondary Education. He was also a member of the football team at DelVal University, with two career starts at quarterback.
Bill Heller
Defensive Line: Coach Heller brings 44 years of experience to the defensive staff. This will be Coach’s second stint on Heartbreak Ridge, having previously served on Hall of Fame coach Dick Bedesem’s staff. Coach Heller began his coaching career at Bishop Egan in 1969 and helped the Eagles won a city championship. He then had successful tenures at Archbishop Wood, Harry S. Truman, Central Bucks East and Pennsbury. Coach had an amazing 36-year teacher career at the Bucks County Technical High School as a chef instructor. He has impacted thousands of lives in a positive manner.
Ryan Katona
Defensive Line: Coach Katona is entering his 2nd year on the Neshaminy Football coaching staff. He is a 2011 graduate of Neshaminy High School and a former player on football team. Coach Katona was both an Offensive & Defensive Lineman on the 2008-2010 football team. With a 2010 record of 12-2, the team won the SOL National and was the District 1 runner up. Coach comes to us from the Football coaching staff of Harry S. Truman where he coached the Defensive line for 2 years. Coach Katona graduated from Delaware Valley University in 2016 with a BS degree in Secondary Education with a Major in Social Studies.
Ray Kelly
Quarterbacks and Offensive Assistant Coach Kelly returns to Neshaminy for the 2nd year after completing a 46-year career in education, 32 years of those as a Neshaminy Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He has over 26 years of coaching experience in a variety of sports. He was one of the founding coaches of what would become the Lower Makefield Football Assoc. Coach Kelly was a co-founder of the Neshaminy Football Hall of Fame. He is also a nationally certified coaching instructor with the American Sport Education Program. Coach Kelly gratefully thanks Coach Wilmot for giving him the opportunity to return to teaching Neshaminy athletes. For 50 years, his wife, Patty, has supported his efforts on behalf of kids and Neshaminy athletics. Her selfless support allows Coach Kelly to continue to follow his dreams.
Chuck Lumio
Speed Development and Agility: Coach Lumio is a 1987 Neshaminy HS graduate. He earned his B.S. degree from the Univ.of Miami. Coach Lumio was a member of the Hurricanes Men Track and Field team where he set 3 school records. He earned his Masters degree from Temple Univ. Coach Lumio is currently an Earth & Space science teacher at Maple Point MS. He was the track and field coach at NHS for 17 years and Maple Point MS for four seasons. Coach Lumio resides in New Hope with his wonderful wife Renee, and boys Mason & Chase. “Our speed development program aims to integrate the training technics used in track & field to make our football team faster & more agile for a changing game.”
Dave Woodley
Strength and Conditioning Assistant : This is Coach Woodley’s 4th year with the Redskins. He has worked with the team in the offseason to improve athletes’ form and strength. Coach Woodley graduated from Boyertown Area Senior High in 2006 and attended Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) for his undergraduate degree. He is currently pursuing his MA from Liberty University Online. Coach Dave works at Bucks County Community Church as the Youth Pastor.
Jon Craig
Defensive Line: Coach Craig played football, baseball, and graduated from West Allegheny HS in 1999 and continued his football career at Ursinus College. Coach Craig served as a graduate assistant for one year, before accepting a teaching/coaching position at Harry S. Truman in the fall of 2004. He served as the defensive coordinator through the 2006 season, before accepting an assistant coaching position at Neshaminy HS. Coach Craig returned to coach at Truman in the spring of 2011, where he served as the defensive coordinator. In the spring of of 2014, Coach Craig was named the Head Football Coach, a position which he held through the 2016 season. Off the field he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Katy (Neshaminy ‘96) and coaching his two sons; Caden (9) and Silas (6).
Ed Mitchem
Defensive Line:Coach Mitchem is entering his first season coaching defensive tackles with the Redskins. He is a 2007 graduate of New Oxford High School in New Oxford, PA and earned his Bachelors in Elementary Education from Albright College in Reading, PA in 2012. Coach Mitchem came to Neshaminy School District in 2017 and teaches 5th grade Science and Social Studies at Maple Point Middle School. Coach Mitchem married his wife Kaitlin in June of 2018 and they currently reside in the Norristown area.
Luke Carrezola
Defensive Line: This is Coach Carrezola’a first year on the Redskins coaching staff. He is a 2013 Neshaminy graduate and former member of the Neshaminy Football team. Coach Carrezola was a 3 year starter at Defensive End and 2 year starter at Tight end for the Redskins. He was a 2 year captain that helped lead his team his senior year to a 13-2 record and District 1 championship. He was awarded with first team all state honors at both positions. Coach Carrezola went on to play in the Big 33 all-star game where he became captain for the game. He earned two Division 1A scholarships and committed to the University of Connecticut were he would earn his BS degree in Economics. There he started 3 years at OLB/ DE and was named captain his senior year. Coach Carrezola recently got back from two rookie tryouts with the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins.</>
Bryan Schedlinger
Trainer: Coach Bryan holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Ithaca University in Athletic Training. He is responsible for all Neshaminy High School athletic teams. He has been at Neshaminy High School since 2002. Bryan grew up in Ewing, NJ and presently lives with his wife Deena in Langhorne.
