2024 Coaching Staff
Head Coach Steve Wilmot
Head Coach: Coach Wilmot enters his 30th year coaching football at Neshaminy High School, with 20 years as an assistant and 10 as head coach. He played high school football at Springfield (Montco) under the mentorship of Bob Malehorn and Dave Puchalski. Continuing his football journey, he played at Lock Haven University, where he had the privilege of being coached by Mark Schmidt, the former head coach of Neshaminy High School, creating a unique connection that would define his future. In 2023 Coach Wilmot had the honor of being inducted into both the Lock Haven and Neshaminy Football’s Hall of Fame.
Since 2002, Coach Wilmot has been a biology teacher in the Neshaminy district. His wife, Jennifer, is a 5th grade teacher at Carl Sandburg Middle School. Their family include Coach’s stepson Shane, a 2018 Neshaminy graduate and part of the football program, son Jason, who is a senior football and baseball player, and their Beagle, Arrow.
Jay Weidenbaugh
Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs: Coach Weidenbaugh graduated from Spring-Ford High School. He attended West Chester University and earned a B.S. degree in Physical Education. He also has a M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina. Coach Weidenbaugh has 41 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. His wife Tina is a retired principal of the Spring-Ford High School in Royersford.
Neil French
Co-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers: Coach French is entering his 23rd season on Heartbreak Ridge as the Redskins’ Co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers coach. Coach is a 1994 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Villanova University in 1998 and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Gwynedd Mercy University in 2002. Coach French is the Assistant Principal at Maple Point Middle School, where he previously served as a Social Studies teacher, Student Council advisor, 7th Grade Boys Basketball head coach and 8th Grade Baseball head coach. Since 2013, Coach French has worked closely with Coaches vs. Cancer of Philadelphia as part of their School and Youth Initiative and was presented with the 2023 Speedy Morris Service Award for his efforts. Coach resides in Langhorne with his beautiful wife Jennifer (Neshaminy ’94) and daughters Julia (17) and Addison (15). He would like to thank his family for their love, support, and the many sacrifices they make on his behalf during the season.
David Ferrara
Outside Linebackers: David is a ’87 graduate of Neshaminy HS. He was a member of the football team for three years and earned the honors of making the Redskin Eleven in his senior year. After high school Coach Ferrara graduated from Bucks County Community College with a 3.9 GPA and an Associates degree in Educational Psychology. Coach then transferred to Trenton State College (known as The College of NJ today) to major in History Education. He graduated in 1993 with a 3.489 GPA. Coach also holds a Masters degree in Education from Arcadia University. Coach Ferrara teaches 9th Grade American History and 10th Grade Modern World History at Neshaminy High School. Coach has 22 years of coaching varsity football experience, 16 of those years at Neshaminy High School.
Ed Mitchem
Defensive Line: Coach Mitchem returns to coaching the defensive line for his 7th season at Neshaminy. He is a 2007 graduate of New Oxford High School in New Oxford, PA where he played on the offensive and defensive lines. He continued his football career while earning his Bachelors in Elementary Education from Albright College in 2012. Coach Mitchem came to Neshaminy School District in 2018 and teaches 5th grade at Maple Point Middle School. He currently resides in Norristown with his wife Kaitlin, daughter Madilyn, and son Cameron.
Ed Place
Defensive Backs: Ed Place returned to our football staff as a defensive assistant after rejoining the staff in 2019 as a receiver’s coach. He retired as a Neshaminy Health & Physical Education teacher in 2018 after over 30 years of service and holds a Master’s degree from The College of New Jersey. Ed coached football at The College of New Jersey (23 years), Delaware Valley College (1 year), Bensalem High School (7 years), and Neshaminy High School (9 years). In addition, he has coached baseball at Neshaminy for over 15 years. Ed rounds out his experience with nearly 16 years of high school track and field coaching experience for girls and boys. Both of Ed’s daughters graduated from Neshaminy and he currently resides in Langhorne with his wife, Diane.
Ray Jones
Wide Receivers: Coach Jones is entering his 21st year coaching at Neshaminy. Coach Jones attended Kutztown University. He has 30 plus years of coaching experience. Coach Jones for over 31 years has run his own real estate business Ray Jones Realty handling Residential, Commercial and Business Brokerage (www.raymondjones.com), and lives in Langhorne with his wife, has three grown children and 6 grandchildren.
Mason Jones
Quarterbacks: Coach Jones is entering his 1 st year coaching at Neshaminy. He was the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks/Running Backs coach at CR North for the last two seasons prior to joining Neshaminy’s staff. He is a 2017 graduate of Neshaminy High School where he was a 4-year varsity letterman and 2-year team captain at the quarterback position. He was the starting quarterback on the 2016 football team that finished the regular season undefeated with a record of 10-0, earning the SOL National title. He played football at the University of Delaware and graduated with an Honors Degree in finance in 2020. He also earned his Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Delaware in 2021. In 2020, Coach Jones established his own Quarterback Training business (mjqbtraining@gmail.com). Currently, Coach Jones resides in Langhorne and works for General Motors as a Quality Supervisor.
Dan Kelly
Running Backs Coach: Dan Kelly is a graduate of Temple University with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He has been a Health and Physical Education teacher for 23 years. He has been teaching in the Bristol Township school district for the past 18 years. Dan has 29 years of coaching experience most of them with Neshaminy. Dan is married to Dawn Kelly, principal at Carl Sandburg Middle School. They have a 26-year-old son, Hunter, and a daughter, Sienna, who will be attending The College Of New Jersey in the fall. They reside in the Neshaminy School District.
Ray Kelly
Assistant Offensive Line: Coach Kelly has a 46-year career in education, 32 years of those as a Neshaminy Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He has over 32 years of coaching experience in a variety of sports. He was one of the founding coaches of what would become the Lower Makefield Football Association. Coach Kelly was a co-founder of the Neshaminy Football Hall of Fame. He is also a nationally certified coaching instructor with the American Sport Education Program. Coach Kelly gratefully thanks Coach Wilmot for giving him the opportunity to coach Neshaminy athletes for the last 7 years. For 55 years, his wife, Patty, has supported his efforts on behalf of Neshaminy athletics. Her selfless support allows Coach Kelly to continue to support his fellow coaches.
Jacob Kelly
Offensive Line: Coach Kelly is entering his 2nd season on the Neshaminy Football coaching staff. Coach is a 2018 Neshaminy High School graduate and a 2022 Penn State University graduate. Coach Kelly played Offensive line under Coach Wilmot for the Redskins and served as a senior captain for a league winning 2017 team with a 10-2 record. Coach currently teaches business education at Neshaminy High School. Coach Kelly is extremely grateful and humbled to be coaching at a program that means so much to him.
Chuck Lumio
Speed, Agility, Performance Development: Coach Lumio is a 1987 Neshaminy High School graduate who is in his 10th year with the Neshaminy Football Program. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Miami (‘92). Coach Lumio was a member of the Hurricanes Men’s Track & Field Team and held program records in both the indoor and outdoor Triple Jump, as well as being a member of the Shuttle High Hurdle Relay. He earned his Master of Science degree from Temple University (‘94). Coach Lumio has been an 8th-grade Science teacher at Maple Point Middle School for the past 31 years. He was the Head Coach of Neshaminy High School’s Boys Track and Field program for 18 years, producing several individual event state champions and leading the team to multiple top 5 finishes at both the District 1 meet and the PIAA State Meet. He resides in New Hope with his wife, Renee, and sons, Mason and Chase.

Nick Rapciewicz
Administrative & Statistician: Coach Rapciewicz is entering his 5th year on the Neshaminy football coaching staff. He grew up in East Windsor, NJ and attended Hightstown High School where he graduated in 1994. He also has a degree in Business Management. He has resided in Langhorne for the past 12 years with his wife Tiffany. They are the proud parents of their daughter Isabella. She is going into 11th grade at Neshaminy High School. He is grateful that Coach Wilmot has given him the opportunity to be a part of the wonderful tradition that is Neshaminy Football.

Justin Lewis
Athletic Trainer: Justin is entering his 5th year as the athletic trainer at Neshaminy High School. He first came to Neshaminy in November 2020. Originally from Boiling Springs, Pa, he attended Boiling Springs High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree from Waynesburg University where he worked with many collegiate teams such as Waynesburg University’s football, basketball and soccer teams as well as Waynesburg Central High School teams. He and his wife, Emily, reside in Feasterville-Trevose. They look forward to cheering on all the Neshaminy teams this year!y teams this year!
