From Director Mike Lipton:

We are proud to present the 2021-22 Neshaminy High School Marching Band. This year the band is comprised of 94 members, which includes 78 musicians and 16 color guard. The band is directed on the field by Drum Majors Tyler Dowis, Jaden Bradby and Samantha Quinlan. The band director is Michael Lipton. Band staff includes Justin Aungst, Michael Pettis, Austin Inman, Carla Giorno, Carolyn Cuesta, Jason Wu, Josh Campbell, Sam Monroe, Lillian Connelly, Mae Prasch, Brook Rees and Brynn Chieffo. Music arrangements and drill design are by Justin Aungst. Battery percussion arrangements are by Josh Campbell. Front Ensemble arrangements are by Bennett Stump.

The Marching Band will be kept busy this fall with performances at Neshaminy football games as well as participating in a full schedule of Marching Band Shows throughout the fall season. We will host our own 28th Annual Kaleidoscope of Bands Show on Saturday, October 23.

In our 2021 production, Playing With Fire, we dare to tempt fate as we discover the power and beauty of fire. We open the show with the beautiful sounds of nature from Julie Giroux’s Bookmarks from Japan as well as Alfred Reed’s Armenian Dances. This is soon interrupted as we begin our journey into the fire with The Fire Sermon by Einojuhani Rautavaara. It all quickly blows out of proportion as we play an aggressive statement of the Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky. As the fire dies out and the smoke begins to settle, we mourn for what we have lost, as we hear the moving harmonies of Remo Giazotto’s Adagio in G Minor. Not all hope is lost though, for from the ashes and destruction we begin to see new life return as we close our production with a triumphant return to Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite one last time. Sit back and enjoy as we present Playing With Fire.
