2022 Season Recap
Instead of a year of "firsts" we had a year of "lasts". This is the last year that Football will played on our grass field. The high school is doing renovations and the stadium is getting a major make-over. Turf will be installed (this makes the webmaster very happy - no more straining to see yard markers while taking stats!). For all the history on The Ridge check our our Heartbreak Ridge history.
Sadly, it is also the last year for the All Star Game. The game showcased the season's stand out Seniors and the games were scheduled in June of the following year. The 1971 Seniors were the first players to participate in the Bucks County All-Star Football Classic game under the Cancer Society umbrella. The Lions took over a few years later and the teams were labeled as North Vs South with the name eventually changing to Bucks County Lions and Bob Sands Memorial All-Star Football Classic. The Lions stepped back from their involvement in 2016 and the name changed to Bucks/Montco All Star Game and was played with 2015 season seniors. Teams were then designated as Bucks Vs. Montgomery. Sadly the entire All Star Game shut down on September 16th, 2022.
This was a tough year for our players and the team ended the season with a 4-6 record. The defense was stellar but the offense struggled. There were many highlights. Senior running back Marcus Barnett had 1,235 total yards and 10 touchdowns for a total of 60 points in his senior season. Sophomore Kaden Nicastro was 90% effective with 14 for 16 on PATs. "The Terrible Trio" of seniors Nick Buchys, Jack Dunkley and Joey Zack were always solid, never quit and were a fearsome sight for opponents. In fact the entire defensive line was formidable. This webmaster got fired up over every "Joey Zack Sack Attack", and Joey totaled 5.5 sacks for a loss of 47 opponent yards. Junior Dimacio Cooper led the defense in solo tackles at 39, assisted tackles at 21 for a total of 60 tackles. Travis Lavelah led the team in interceptions. Senior Ashton Lovelace was a credit to the Lovelace name and caught many passes in the middle as well as punting the ball 1,393 yards over the ten games played.
Nick Buchys will be continuing his football career at West Point. Jack Dunkley will be attending Duquesne University where he will continue his football career. Joey Zack will attending West Chester University and Markus Barnett will go to Ursinus University where they will both continue their football careers. Other players include: Kyle Cunningham, Kings College; Robbie Haines, Keystone College; Ashton Lovelace, Kings College
